c. late 5th-8th Century CE
Composed of a piriform body on a ring base this lamp was produced in a two part mold during the Byzantine period. The fill and wick holes are both rimmed and the lamp is well decorated. Above the nozzle a palm tree, sometimes called the tree of life, is depicted. The shoulders of the lamp are decorated with curvilinear bands and dots.
In excellent condition.
