The Chi-Ro (or Christogram) is the combination of the first two letters of Christ's name in Greek. Since its adoption by Constantine I and use at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge this symbol has been inextricable from late Roman and Byzantine iconography. This collection of coins illustrates well the importance of both symbols in the Byzantine empire and the role they played in its official representation.
