He is the combination of Eros, the Greek god of love and Horus, the son of Isis. It is the aspect of the Egyptian Horus which is stressed as opposed to the romantic and sexual aspects of Eros. Other such combinations from the period include Isis-Aphrodite and Zeus-Serapis.|
