| Ornate Russian silver & shaded enamel kovsh by the 11th Artel, displaying the ornate and intricate designs often associated with this manufacturer. Measuring 3 5/16" (8.4 cm) and weighing 2 oz (56.7 grams), the entire body, prow and hooked handle of the item is decorated in scrolling floral and geometric patterns of high quality, the front showing raised filigree wiring against a translucent purple enamel ground; the back of the kovsh has raised silver droplets. Fully marked for the 11th Artel, Moscow manufacture between 1908-1917, the piece shows minor rubbing to the gilding and a couple of minor chips to the enamel, neither of which detract significantly from the kovsh. An extraordinary amount of work on a piece of this size. | ||
