Russian Silver & Guilloche Enameled Cigarette Case
A Russian silver and guilloche enameled ladies cigarette case, manufactured by the Grachev Brothers in ST Petersburg between 1896 -1907. Of traditional form, this compact case is comprised of two identical halves, entirely rose-engine turned in a swag pattern and flooded with a rich, deep-red translucent enamel. The interior is appropriately gilded and set with removable gilded spring retainers, fully marked for Br. Grachev under the Imperial Warrant. It is further marked for 84 standard silver and measures 3 3/8” (8.6 cm) by 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) and weighs 4.55 oz (130 g). Note: the piece displays surface scratching, normal as such cases that were actually used.
