| A Russian silver and guilloche enameled vodka cup, manufactured by “AP” for Grachev Brothers in 88 standard silver, ST Petersburg before 1896. Of traditional form, the exterior is flooded with a deep forest green enamel over a diapered ground, highlighted with exposed silver mistletoe eaves and bordered top and bottom with white pellets and an outer band of matching translucent green enamel. Measuring 1 11/16 “ (4.3 cm) tall and weighing 1.3 oz (37 g), the cup’s design resembles work by Scandinavian enamellers of the period; coming from the possessions of Grand Duchess Olga via the Byington Collection in Canada, the piece may be of special significance to collectors of Imperial Russian history. Gilded on the interior, the cup is marked under the base for the Brothers Grachev (in full and under the Imperial warrant), “AP” in Cyrillic and appropriate assay marks. Excellent. | ||
