| A Russian silver and shaded enamel casket by Maria Semenova. Of traditional form, the entire exterior of this wonderful example is covered in exquisitely executed scrolling shaded florals against cream grounds. Sitting on bracket feet, the piece is topped with a domed, hinged lid, the leading and trailing edges of which are decorated with interlocking purple and white triangles, the top surface edges with turquoise pellets. Measuring approximately 2 11/16" (6.83 cm) by 1 7/8" (4,76 cm) and standing 1 9/16" ( 4 cm) tall, the casket has a swing handle on each end and is closed in the front with an enameled hasp and staple, still sporting its original heart-shaped "padlock". Appropriately gilded and in perfect condition, it is hallmarked for Moscow manufacture in 84 standard silver between 1896-1907 and weighs 5.77 oz (164 grams). Excellent. | ||
