A beautifully three dimensional brooch designed to mimic a bow made of satin ribbon, held in place by a gold and diamond stick pin. This type of pin is often referred to as a watch pin because stylish Victorian ladies used this pin to hang their lapel watches - or lockets.

The Essex case #143882 is made of (tested) 14kt gold. The raised design of leaves, flowers, and beadwork is created using yellow and pink gold - possibly some green gold. The case itself is rose gold.

Enamel face with original crystal and watch hands. Missing ring at the winding stem. No other damages to the case or face.

This ring dates to the late 19th century and shows signs of having been worn for many years. The ring would also appear to be hand made due to the odd, asymmetrical design - which is clear in detail despite the years.
The diamond is set into a secure bezel of white gold.
For years I thought the characters on the top of the ring were Oriental...

The paste drops are a combination of "diamonds" and "rubies" - all original and all foil backed; set in silver vermeil.
The long kidney wires are 14kt gold - probably later replacements.
I am dating these earrings to the mid to late 1900's, although they look Georgian.
The ring is set with matching "ruby" paste stones in an early gold filled prong setting...

All hand carved (front and back are identical) in a pattern of stylized long leaves.
Lovely brown/black color.
Lightweight even though long. Comfortable to wear all day.

Bog oak is one of the more unusual substances used to create the black and brown Victorian "mourning" jewelry. Other Victorian jewelry was made from jet, gutta percha, coal, black glass and so on.

From the photos, you will see that I did not polish the locket, although I have in the past and it polishes clean and bright.
The body of the locket is gold filled. However, the tiny balls centering the floral decorations are gold...

This is a GORGEOUS brooch/pin with old cushion cut paste stones.
No repairs or damages; wear patterns consistent to the age of the brooch.
This is the style that later influenced Coco Chanel's "Headlight" costume jewelry.
