The metal of this working tape measure is gold plated base metal which was lacquered. Some of the lacquer has worn away showing the bright gilt original surface. I have not tried to remove the lacquer or polished the metal...

People refer to this type of telescope as maritime. I was unable to find any maker's mark to verify the telescope's intended usage. I do know that the barrels are brass, the protective slide cover over the eye piece is intact, and that the optics are excellent - with the original lens cap.
The largest barrel is covered with a burled walnut veneer.
Dating to the Edwardian era - possibly earlier.

The blue mirrored frame has a small chip to the back of the bottom left side; otherwise there is not even edge roughness and the beveled edge is undamaged. Also note from the photographs that some of the mirrored back has been worn away - consistent with the age of the clock...

This elegant desk accessory has been created by combining a 19th c. sterling handle with an optical quality lens. The enamel work, is which is called guilloche. has been over painted with a bluebird and garden gate design.
The enamel is in undamaged condition except for a tiny chip at the point where the handle joins the collar of the lens...
