Was this part of a child's tea set? I have no idea. I have used it on my dresser for years to hold small pairs of pierced earrings.
The guilloche enamel is undamaged - and a lovely color of medium blue. The only damage I see are two small scratches into the white enamel rim.

I am referring to this small figural box as a vinaigrette because of the open work top and the cotton which was originally held within the box. In vinaigrettes, the cotton would be soaked in scent - cologne or perfume.
The tiny knob is used pull apart the top and bottom halves.
Although unmarked, I tested the metal and it is silver - guaranteed as such...
