Measurements: 5" long x 1/8" at the widest point of the needle x 1 1/2" long chains x 3/4" diameter "love token." Pin back marked "sterling" with a very blurry mark which appears to be a lion rampant. The brooch components are a needle with a silver love token showing the symbol of the English Broderers (Embroidery) Guild and initials on the reverse. The disc referred to as a "love token" was traditionally created from a silver coin, polished smooth and decorated with personal designs. This is a delicately formed brooch with an open "C" catch indicating that the brooch was manufactured in the late 19th century. Also, please note that this is truly a delicate piece of antique jewelry, requiring gentle handling. |
