Wonderfully fierce American eagle carving with wide spread wings and remnants of the original gilding.

Wear to the surface as obvious from the photographs as is the excellent patina.

This carving was obviously part of a larger piece - either a mirror or a cabinet. However, as an object, it is a "stand alone" design - although the forward leaning design does NOT allow the eagle to actually stand alone. At the moment it can only be hung.

Also, the back of the carving shows a signature: "Conlin."

Note the shadow of the brackets that were used to secure the eagle to its original piece of furniture.

Dating to the Victorian - Edwardian era in American history.
