Measurements: 9" tall from feet to tips of "ears" x 6" largest diameter from the back of the head to the front of the eye cups. Eyes cups are 2 1/2" in diameter centered by green and turquoise enamel discs. Weight: 1# 11 oz. "Curtis Jere" art is the work of Jerry Fels and Curtis Freiler. They began working in the late 1950s, through the 1960s and into the late 1970s. 'Curtis Jere' created hand-made metal abstract sculptures. The company was sold in 1972 due to the death of one of the partners. Pieces after 1972 are no longer original artworks by Curtis Jere Their original studio was opened in California in the 1950's. In good condition structurally, but showing some chipping to the applied "bronze" painted patina. Signed and dated at the base of the back "feathers." Whooooo wouldn't love this charming owl sculpture?? And as P.S. Curtis Jere originally created copper and enamel jewelry under the names Renoir and Matisse before moving on to abstract sculpture. |
