Measurements: 30" 24" Known primarily as a sculptor, Constantino Nivola is a listed Italian - American artist who worked ink and water color as well as "sand cast" stone.. Born 1911 - Died 1988. Nivola came to the United States in 1939 fearing the rise of Italian Fascism. In the 1940's Nivola became a close friend of Le Corbusier, who influenced his style. Then in the 1950's Nivola became a professor at Harvard University's "Design Workshop." By the 1970's, he was chair of the Arts Department at the U of C Berkley. His sculptures and pen and ink drawings are in a number of well known collections: a 100' concrete mural for the Mutual Insurance Company of Hartford, a war memorial in Falls Church, Va. "4 Chaplains" WWII, and a wall for the Olivetti Co. showroom now relocated to Harvard. |
