Vauxhall glass was worn during the Victorian Era - primarily in England and its colonies.
Usually found in red, this pendant is special because it is black and in good, original condition. There is only one small chip to the tip of one piece of glass - just at the spot where the jump ring is attached. The points of several of the outer glass pieces have roughness at the tips only visible when looking at the close up photos - not when worn.
Vauxhall glass in this color and condition is unusual because the glass itself (being glass) is easily damaged as is the mirrored backing.
The design is referred to as either a snowflake or a starburst.
When wearing vauxhall glass jewelry, be aware that the piece is fragile - handle and storage it accordingly.
