For those who view jewelry as works of art, here is a pin with strong sculptural elements, set with what looks to be a reddish-pink tourmaline, or rubellite. It features a quirky yet thoughtful construction, composed of a layered disc with an exposed middle area into which is set the irregular-shaped and polished stone with the matrix showing through the back. The stone is cleverly secured by curling silver wires. The back sports a rollover clasp in good working order. The pin probably dates from the 1960s; it measures 2 inches in diameter, and about 1 inch deep. It is unmarked, but clearly the work of a very talented jeweler/designer. Gross weight: 36 grams

This sophisticated, cleanly designed ring features an onyx cabochon mounted in the center of a carnelian disc, set in 14kt gold. Both stones are in lovely condition; the gold band is unmarked, but has been tested for gold content. The ring dates from the 1960s, and has a classy, "mod" look that reads mid- to late 1960s. The setting measures about 3/4 inch in diameter and about 1/4 inch high. The ring is a size 6 1/2-7.

This late 19th-century hinged bangle is a real beauty. It’s made of 14-karat gold, set with 18 half-pearls that are enhanced with cobalt-blue enamel. The back of the bracelet is simply decorated with a raised, thin gold band that terminates at both ends with a figure-8. Both rims have recesses along the edges all the way around. The tongue and groove clasp is very secure; a gold security chain with a spring-ring catch is a later addition. The maker’s mark of MC&Co. is at this time unidentified. There is a tiny dent on the inside of the bracelet; otherwise, it is in lovely condition with a soft patina from age. It will receive a slight cloth polishing before shipment to its new home. The internal diameter of the bangle is 2 inches, and the internal circumference is roughly 6 ¼ inches. The width measures about 5/8 inches. Gross weight: 39.5 grams

These delicate earrings are from the late 19th century and test as 14kt gold, so they are likely American. Each is formed as a scalloped disc, decorated with a delicately engraved leaf. The screw backs were added later, possibly replacing kidney wires that allowed the discs to drop just below the ear lobe. One of the screw back bars is slightly bent, but secure. Each disc measures about 5/8 inch across. Weight: 4.6 grams total
