These 14kt gold earrings have a sassy swing and a lovely warm patina. Both the tops and the drops are of hollow construction so as to not pull on the ear; they have post backs. They measure about 2 1/4 inches long. Gross weight: 7.2 grams

Here is a collar-style necklace with a great modernist look by Ed Levin, who died in 2008. It is set with a cabochon amethyst, and made of a gilded metal. The result is a coppery finish; inside the collar is Levin’s name in script letters and ‘Bronze.’ The well-designed collar is quite comfortable and lies nicely at the base of the neck. It measures 3/8 inch at the front, its widest area, and about 14 inches inside circumference.

This sterling silver bangle, made of one continuous piece, is completely hand-hammered, with an interesting concave design. It is marked sterling and with an interlocking, angular ‘KG’ to indicate the unidentified maker. The bracelet is very sturdy, which comes from the hammering process, but is flexible enough to slide onto the wrist. The terminals each measure 3/4 inch from top to bottom. The concave side measures a little over 1/2 inch in width. The bracelet measures a little over 5 1/2 inches from one end to the other, with an additional 1-inch opening. Weight: 15.3 grams

Here is a nice, sturdy sterling silver bracelet with an imaginative design of curved parallel bars. The hinge is tight, in good working order. There is a tiny nick on the edge. The bracelet is marked Mexico 925 in two places on the interior. It measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter; width is 3/4 inch. Weight: 43.2 grams

This three-sided bangle bracelet features a clean, modernist design, with a flattened edge and rounded corners. A bezel-mounted amber-colored glass cabochon is applied to each side. The bracelet is marked .925, with no maker’s mark. The bangle measures a little over 2 5/8 inches at its widest opening; it fits comfortably over a hand that measures 3 1/4 inches wide at the knuckles.

Reminiscent of some Scandinavian pieces from the 1960s, this more modern version of the cattail pin features two freshwater pearls. The stems are gold-filled wires flattened at the top to secure the pearls. The back shows an embossed maker’s mark of a tree in a circle; there is an incised copyright mark with the date 1993 and other hand-markings that include an ST, possibly for sterling (the leaves test as sterling). It measures 3 1/8 inches long by 5/8 inch wide.

These sterling silver earrings have a bold modernist design and bear the mark of Niels Erik From, Denmark. The wing-like shape gracefully curves outward at the open center. Patina is warm, with only slight signs of wear; the earrings have had a light cloth polishing since the photos. They measure 2 inches long from the top bead, and 1 1/2 inches at the widest area. Weight: 13.5 grams

This sterling silver bangle features a sophisticated geometrical design of conical elements. The distinctive design and quality workmanship allows the bangle to stand on its own as well as be worn with other bracelets. It bears the post-1980 mark of MM34 for Los Ballesteros, on an applied plaque inside the bracelet. The bangle measures 2 5/8 inches by 2 1/2 inches for an inside width, and about 8 inches internal circumference; the conical elements measure about 3/8 inch wide. Weight: 25.2 grams

This handsome modernist style sterling silver ring features a dome with an open, ribbed patterns that run both the width and length. It is marked sterling with the maker’s initials of JAD. The dome rises about 1/2 inch from the finger. The ring is sized about 4 1/4. Weight: 7.2 grams

This very substantial money clip is also quite secure. It is decorated with molded ridged lines in an openwork art deco-revival design. The middle ridged design is gilded. The undecorated back bears the Polish marks for sterling silver, post-1985, as well as other marks as yet unidentified. The mark indicates regional assay office of Poznan. The clip measures 2 1/8 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. Weight: 18 grams

These handmade sterling silver earrings have a quirky all-over pierced design resembling antennae. The piercings decorate curled triangular elements that are secured by clip backs. The backs of the earrings are impressed ‘sterling,’ next to which the jeweler has engraved his own name, T. Ward, in capital letters. Each earring measures almost 1 ¼ inches long by 1 inch wide; one clip appears to have been applied crookedly, but it doesn’t affect the position on the ear. Weight: 8.5 grams total

This pendant, composed of a jockey cap sitting over a riding crop, is marked for .800 silver. It also bears a partial assay mark for Italy, but the maker’s number and area of assay are unclear. The dating would be post-1968. If it were to be worn as a pendant, it would need a bail so that the cap would lie flat and not turn on the chain. The piece measures a little over 2 ¼ inches long by 1 1/8 inches wide. Weight: 7.1 grams

A sturdy, handmade bracelet composed of four solid sterling silver rods connected by double rings. A large, hand-wrought S-hook serves as a very secure clasp. The bracelet has a 925 mark for sterling and an obscured maker’s mark. It measures a little over 8 ½ inches long. Weight: 61 grams

This contemporary studio-produced ring is distinctive for its flattened form and flared corners. The applied decoration of beading interspersed with a wavy silver wire is enhanced with a highly oxidized background. The top protrudes 5/16 inch above the finger; the sides of the band are curved inward, making the ring quite comfortable to wear. The ring is a size 8. Weight: 5.3 grams

A handmade studio piece, it sits comfortably around the neck and lies flat without gaps. There is no maker’s mark, just the 925 mark for sterling. The neck ring measures about 4 ¾ inches across, with a 3-inch opening. Internal circumference is about 15 inches. The widest area, at the front, measures a little under ½ inch. Weight: 28 grams

A colorful, bold link bracelet of sterling silver and scarabs of carnelian, rock crystal, agate, amethyst and rose quartz. The stones are bezel-mounted on openwork panels, and the panels are connected by double ribbons of silver with applied curling motifs. The bracelet is handmade and is marked sterling, with an unidentified maker’s mark of Denise; it probably is from the 1980s. It measures 7 ¼ inches long by 7/8 inch wide.

Nicely constructed from four cast bars of sterling silver, of various lengths and width. Each bar is hollow, but of significant heft and strength, which allows for comfort and wearability. The piece is mounted with an oval piece of polished banded agate in a criss-cross setting. A small wad of molten silver adheres to the side of one bar, as part of the design. It is unmarked, but tests definitively for sterling. The pendant, which falls nicely from a chain or neckring, measures 3 3/8 inches long by 1 1/8 inches wide at the stone.

Composed of oxidized curved oval panels with identical raised designs of a feline, probably a mountain lion, on a background of raised wavy lines. The bracelet is well made, and the connecting links show little wear and no areas of stress. The oxidation is substantially intact. The bracelet is marked only Mexico 925. It measures 8 inches long, including the jump ring and toggle chain, by 5/8 inch wide. Weight: 27.2 grams
