Decorated with classic Nordic scene of a manned sled drawn by a moose in a snowy landscape, framed by a colorful aurora borealis. The enamel exposes nice guilloche work underneath, in a modified lozenge-shaped frame. The back bears the mark of Ivar T. Holth and the Norway mark for sterling silver. The silver is gilded. The pin measures 1 3/8 inches long by 7/8 inch wide. Weight: 5.7 grams

Each longitudinal button is embossed with a Nordic sailing scene; there is engine-turned engraving lengthwise on the smaller buttons. The hinged bridge bars indicate the maker as Elvik & Co., of Oslo, and silver content of 830; the cuff links date c. 1960. The larger buttons measure just over 1 inch long by just under ½ inch wide. Weight: 8.5 grams total

This ornate sterling silver disk pin, by Norwegian maker Ivar T. Holth, is gilded and features an intricate wirework design. It is applied to a scalloped disk of white guilloched enamel and dates from the 1960s-1970s. It appears to have been hardly worn, with a light tarnishing of the gilt that can be addressed with a cloth cleaning. There is a secure rollover clasp on the back as well as the marks for Norway, Holth and sterling. It measures 1 ¾ inches in diameter, and has a nice heft at 22.2 grams. Please note that the white enamel is actually a much brighter white than shown in the photos.

This unusual silver lariat necklace draws on its Nordic roots with a twisted, notched spike at each end in the Viking manner. It is quite a versatile design and a sophisticated look; the strands can be knotted or draped, worn long or doubled. The chain itself is composed of doubled links, each with two perpendicular rings. The chain has a yet-unidentified maker’s mark, with a Norwegian silver mark of 830S. From end to end, the necklace measures about 46 ¼ inches long, including the terminals. Weight: 18.8 grams

Features an openwork scrolled border surrounding a goatherd tableau, this pin features a strong C-clasp and a nice aged patina. It bears both the silver mark of 830S and the partially worn maker’s mark of Nils M. Elvik, a conjoined NE in a horseshoe; the company was later named Elvik and Co. AS in the 1940s. (There are online sources that indicate this mark is for Nils Erik Elvik.) The additional mark of mønsterb. on the back signifies a copyright. The oval pin measures 2 inches long by1 5/8 inches high. Weight: 14.1 grams

A reticulated sterling silver pendant of geometric elements and elongated bale, suspended from an .830 silver chain. Both bear the marks of H.C. Østrem of Drammen; it's very unusual to find a pendant by this maker with its original chain. The script maker's mark also is not often seen. The entire necklace measures15 inches long with the chain doubled, including the 3-inch-long pendant. Weight: 23.6 grams, total

This bracelet exhibits a classic Scandinavian style extremely popular during the 1950s and 1960s. The dramatic enameling is in vivid colors, featuring panels of Nordic scenes alternating with blue and white cloisonne panels. The tongue and groove clasp is very secure and bears the mark of Ottar Hval, of Oslo. The bracelet measures 7 ½ inches long by 5/8 inch wide. Weight: 26.4 grams

A double row of petals composed of gilded sterling silver and enameled in deep red adds a bit of drama to this late-1960s flower pin. A cross-hatch grid pattern of guilloche work under the enamel enhances the design. There is a secure rollover clasp on the back, with a maker’s mark of a crown and marks for sterling and Norway. It measures 2 ¼ inches across by 2 ½ inches long, including the stem. Weight: 22.8 grams

This highly decorated bracelet features a strong repoussée design of flowers and scrolls, on backgrounds of white and black enamel. Inside is the mark for Norway silver, and the maker’s mark of Andresen & Scheinpflug of Oslo. The bracelet is secured by a rod that slides into a cylinder, attached to a chain. The enamel is intact save for a tiny area of impact near the edge (see Photo 1, lower edge of bracelet, and Photo 5 for detail). The hinge and clasp are in good working order. The bracelet measures 1 1/8 inches wide; when closed, the open area measures about 2 1/2 inches across, with an interior circumference of about 7 inches. A delicate necklace of double rows of green and white enameled flowers on gilded sterling, from the 1960s. There is an unidentified maker’s mark on the tongue and groove clasp, which is also marked sterling and Norway. The necklace measures 14 ½ inches long and ¾ inch wide. Weight: 64.4 grams

This Norwegian necklace is composed of gilded sterling silver panels decorated with guilloche work under ivory-colored enamel and edged with black enamel and embossed flowers along the rim. The necklace clasp is in good working order, and bears the mark of Ivar T. Holth, of Oslo. The box part of the clasp is marked 925 for sterling; the tongue is marked for .830 silver. The enamel is intact, showing no losses or cracks. The necklace measures 15 inches long by 7/8 inch wide. Weight: 66.6 grams

Sterling ring of adjustable design decorated with white guilloche enamel in a geometric motif. The enamel shows no damage or wear, and the ring is at its original size. It bears the mark of Aksel Holmsen of Sandefjord, Norway. It is a size 5.

A highly decorative piece in gilded sterling silver designed with a graceful movement, this starfish pin has a rich, textured look. It features yellow-green guilloche enamel with raised graduated disks running down each arm enameled in white. The entire piece is jag edged, and has a convex shape. It dates from the 1960s and bears the maker’s mark of Ivar T. Holth of Oslo. Please note that the first two images show the truest color. The pin measures 1 ¾ inches wide. Weight: 8.3 grams

This handmade ring features a substantial domed top of cross-hatched openwork and an adjustable band. It dates around 1960-1970, and bears the marks of husband and wife designers Else Berntsen Hughes and Paul Hughes, including the H mark for their workshop, Studio Else and Paul. The ring is sized approximately 4 ½-5 and can be adjusted slightly larger by a competent jeweler. Weight: 10.5 grams

These delicate sterling silver pendant earrings have scrolled frames supporting small teardrops. They are designed in the tradition of solje jewelry from Norway. These earrings are marked only 925 on the screw backs; there are no other markings. They measure about 2 ¼ inches long by 1/2 inch wide. Weight: 7.7 grams

Moonstone cabochons are bezel-mounted within oval onyx panels sitting in silver linked frames. All stones are very secure; one moonstone has a crack down the center that isn’t highly visible but can be felt by running a fingernail over it. The moonstones exhibit a milky quality with some blue highlights.The bracelet has a new sterling silver spring-ring clasp. The bracelet is unmarked, but the bezel mounts around the onyx panels test positively for silver. It measures about 7 ¾ inches long, including the clasps.

These two-sided 14kt-gold cuff links are decorated with engine-turned engraving on white gold and are edged in yellow gold. The bars on the backs are marked P14K. There is some minor scratching, as shown in the photo. They measure a little over 1/2 inch.

Formed as parrots with flowing tails, with sharply molded detail. One clip mechanism is slightly loose, but both are in good working order, with a patent application number that dates to 1931. The backs bear the Los Castillo/Taxco/Made in Mexico marks, as well as the design number of 168A. Each bird measures 1 7/8 inches long by 1 3/8 inches at the widest part. Gross weight: 26.6g
