Here is a substantial sterling silver bracelet by the Mexico City workshop of Tane. It is made of two thick cast halves joined by an internal hinge and a tongue and groove clasp. It is decorated with angled textured bands enhanced with bright-cut engraving. It bears the Tane impressed ‘T’ mark containing the marks for the maker, sterling and Mexico. The patina is bright, with light scratching. The bracelet measures 1 inch wide and has an internal circumference of 7 inches. The center is 2 inches in diameter. Weight: 79.5 grams

Decorative silver work marks these jaunty drop earrings. They are set with faceted amethysts and tiny piesces of turquoise on each hoop, and coral at the tops. They bear the circular maker’s mark of CEL and ME02 (see Bille Hobart’s book on Mexican marks, p. 217, 3rd ed.), and date around 1950-1960. The posts are very secure, as are the clutches. They measure 1 ¾ inches long; the hoops measure 1 inch in diameter.

A lovely design by the respected silversmith Reveriano Castillo, this necklace is composed of a chain of twisted flat links, terminating at each end in a scrolled lyre-form pendant. The necklace measures 34 inches long and bears the marks R within a C, Taxco, the design number of 36, and the Eagle 3 mark indicating sterling. The piece is substantial and well made, weighing 58.1 grams, and makes an impressive, sophisticated statement.

Designed in the pre-Columbian style, this sterling silver bracelet is composed of curved openwork panels connected with small pins. It bears the mark of J.N. Jacopo, for the Jacopo brothers of Mexico City and Taxco; it also bears the eagle mark with the number 3. The bracelet has a nice, hefty feel and is of good quality. There is a minor area of metal stress at one link (see Photo #4). The tongue and groove clasp is in good working order, and the safety chain appears to be original to the bracelet. The bracelet measures 7 inches long and 5/8 inch wide.
