Formed as parrots with flowing tails, with sharply molded detail. One clip mechanism is slightly loose, but both are in good working order, with a patent application number that dates to 1931. The backs bear the Los Castillo/Taxco/Made in Mexico marks, as well as the design number of 168A. Each bird measures 1 7/8 inches long by 1 3/8 inches at the widest part. Gross weight: 26.6g

Composed of a sterling wirework frame decorated with applied silver beads, set with a baroque pearl. The pin has a modified C-clasp of brass, as is the pin stem. It is marked sterling on the back. The pin measures 2 inches long by ¼ inch wide at the middle.

Composed of layers of four graduated moveable discs, of varied hammered surfaces. The band is adjustable, and is currently sized at 8 ¼. The inside band is marked 950 for silver content (a slightly higher grade than sterling). The top measures 1 ¼ inches in maximum diameter. Weight: 14.2 grams

Constructed of forged wire, with a small textured area, twisted into an abstract form. The wire frame is decorated with various applied geometrical elements. The pin has a secure rollover clasp and is unmarked. It tests definitively for sterling and measures 2 ¼ inches long by 2 inches wide. Weigh: 13 grams

Formed as a building constructed cast sterling silver elements, mounted on a wide band. The ring is unmarked, but tests as sterling. The building, which has an ethnic appearance, is rectangular and features a short tower and a dome of some sort. It measures 1 inch long by ¾ inch wide by 5/8 inch high. It is a size 7 ½. Weight: 17.5 grams

Pendant composed of the inside of a conch shell that is mounted in wound sterling silver wire. The chain of twisted sterling silver bands is stamped 925 and has a secure pressure hook clasp. Each connecting ring is soldered closed. Clasped, the necklace measures 17 inches long, including the pendant.

Sturdy and hand-formed, a nice quality and heft. It is composed of a single wrapped band with applied buckle features. The ring is about 7/16 inch wide at the buckle and is just under a size 9. Weight: 7.1 grams

Mounted with an oval banded carnelian cabochon, the pin is marked 800 to indicate silver content. It is probably German. The C-clasp is an older style but very secure, with a sturdy pin stem. It features applied wirework and beading, and rough, scalloped edges trimmed in twisted wire. There are two larger half-beads, one at each side; one exhibits a small dent, as shown in Photo 5. The pin measures 1 5/8 inches across.

A dramatic, hinged, highly oxidized copper cuff decorated with applied copper and brass wire for an ethnic Mexican look. Cylindrical pieces of a green stone, possibly chrysoprase, are riveted to the sides; three of the stones bear tiny chips to the edge. The tube closure takes some practice, but is very secure; the rod, made of doubled brass wire, is a bit crooked, but still works well. The cuff is 2 1/8 inches wide and has an inner circumference of about 6 ¾ inches.

A graceful, naturalistic holly and berry-like pin, reputedly designed by Gertrud Engel for the workshop of Anton Michelsen, Copenhagen. Engel specialized in designs based on coastal plant life. The ‘Rougie’ mark on the back is likely her mark or the name of her line of jewelry designs. The pin has its original secure rollover clasp. It measures 2 1/8 inches long by 2 inches wide. Weight: 12.3 grams

Large, bold ring set with fiery cabochon tiger’s eye. The sterling band and setting show a warm patina from age; there are signs of wear as well as tool marks from the handwork. The stone measures 1 inch long by 5/8 inch wide. The inside of the band is marked for sterling; an eagle 3 is struck on the outside of the band. The ring is a size Size 9 ¾.

A sterling silver bar pin cast as three poinsettias. It has a nice heft and is very well made. It is probably American, with a conjoined JR 43 mark on the back. The rollover clasp is in good working order. It measures 2 ¾ inches long by 1 1/8 inches wide. Weight: 13.3 grams
