| Here is a nice pair of sterling silver earrings of abstract form, made by a studio jeweler. Each earring is composed of a single piece of silver, cut into ribbons and twisted. The bands have a textured surface on one side that appears to have been produced by hammering or some sort of compression, as the design shows slightly on the undecorated side. The ridged design is enhanced with oxidation. The backs of the earrings are signed by the artist ‘Dawnes’ or ‘Downes,’ and copyright-dated 1987. While the earrings have a delicate look, they are quite sturdy, probably due to the compression work. They measure 1 ½ inches long by 1 ¼ inches wide by 1 ¼ inches deep.
