A graceful, irregularly shaped band ring mounted with a 6 mm cultured pearl, signed ‘phyllis sterling,’ for the elusive modernist jeweler Phyllis Sklar. Sklar began selling her handcrafted jewelry in Greenwich Village during the 1950s, eventually moving to Provincetown, MA, where she died in 2010. Some of her pieces are signed with both her mark and that of her husband, Israel Sklar, who also produced his own designs. The ring has a rich, warm patina with some tarnish and shows no signs of having been re-sized. The pearl retains its luster. The ring is sized at 6 ½.
