This delicate and detailed sterling silver gilt and fresh water pearl pin was made by the Newark, N.J., firm of Link & Angell, c. 1910. It is in the form of a maple tree seed and pods, and is beautifully and realistically formed down to the veins in the seedpods. The pin measures 1 5/8 inches long by 3/4 inch from the tip of the pod to the curve of the stem. It is stamped on the back with the L&A mark and ‘sterling.’ It has a modified C-clasp indicative of the early 20th century. Condition is excellent; there are no breaks to the silver, and no repairs. The pearl is very secure, and the clasp is in good working order.
