| These are a set Batik Tulis in the form of "Kain Panjang" which you wrap around your waist and the smaller piece which you drape over one of your shoulders, the "Selendang". They are often broken apart and sold separately because sellers make more money that way. Here, we offer them as a pair, as they should be. The dark blue and white colour suggests that this type of design are made to be worn only during a mourning period(s), or during a wake(s). They are vintage and old, but have never been used / worn, and have retained their paper labels. This is another wonderful example of an Indonesian (Javanese) Chinese dip dye cloth done entirely by hand. | ||
