This is another beauty from the famed Peranakan Chinese Indonesian Solo Batik maker, one of the TJOA family, Tjoa Siang Swie. A "Pagi-Sore" (Morning-Evening) Batik Tulis done in the "3 States" style from Solo (a batik making city in Java). The reds are done in Lasem, the blues in Pekalongan, and the browns in Solo. Modern "3 States" Batik are all dyed in Solo. Like all old batik tulis, this was drawn on both sides of the cloth. This "Solo" style in this dynamic colours reminds me of a a luscious carpet, or drawing by Monet but in crayons! CONDITION: Good. COLOUR: in real life the colour of this spread has a very strong yellowish brown undertone.
