Elegant Koransha white porcelain footed dish with dramatic design of large underglaze blue leaves, small overglaze turquoise leaves and overglaze red enamel berries outlined in gold. Meiji/Taisho period. Two blue rings encircle the high foot, beneath which is found the Koransha mark of the scented orchid painted in underglaze blue. This unusual copper match-safe is wonderfully decorated in high relief with blossoming spider chrysanthemums. Meiji/Taisho period, early 20th century. Both sides feature two large spider mums, their gracefully arching petals beautifully rendered in superb detail. Lovely little Japanese porcelain ovoid from vase decorated in underglaze gray enamels and overglaze iron-red enamel and gilt with a dragon emerging from swirling storm clouds. Meiji period (1868-1912). The base is marked with the mountain trademark of the Fukagawa Porcelain Manufacturing Company painted in underglaze blue. This beautiful hand-knotted cotton pile Japanese carpet (“dantsu”) with its stunning and bold design originated from Aka in Hyogo Prefecture, an area famous for its carpet production during the Meiji and Taisho periods. Ca. 1910-1925.
