A Good Japanese Woodblock Printed Diptych by Toyokuni 3rd. (Kunisada)
Assembled size 19 1/2 x 13 7/8 ins (49.5 x 35.4 cms) This dramatic design shows a group of Kabuki actors playing various roles in the play Chushingara, usually known as the Story of the 47 Ronin. The title on the print is "Kanadehon Chushingara" (the Treasury of the Loyal Retainers) and the date seal of the censor's is for the year 1864. Each sheet is signed Toyokuni. An Attractive Chinese Green Jade Snuff Bottle. 19/20th.c.
Ht. 2 1/4 ins. (6.7 cms) The bottle has a rose quartz stopper and bone spoon. It is very well hollowed with a small aperture (5 mm). It is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. The cork has been padded out with tape. It is part of a group from Christies London.

A Good Large Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Snuff Bottle. 19th.c.
Ht. 4 1/4 ins. (11.8 cms) This handsome bottle features a design of Dogs of Fo (Lion dogs), the traditional guardians of Buddhism, playing amongst conventional cloud scrolls. The stopper is ivory and stained ivory and the spoon is bone. It dates from the mid 19th. century but bears the reign mark of the Emperor Qianlong, in common with much 19th. century Chinese porcelain. A Good Japanese Kyoto Ware Enamelled Pottery Jar. Edo Period
Ht. 9 ins. (23 cms) This jar, with its gilding, enamels and finely crackled buff ground, is typical of Kyo-yaki pottery. It bears the impressed mark "Ninsei" which is the name of the most celebrated Kyoto potter who lived around 1574-1660. Much later Kyoto pottery of the 18th. and 19th. centuries bears this mark. Fine Tall Chinese Early Tang Dynasty Pottery Groom
This very interesting and rare pottery figure of a groom was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is a solid figure (as opposed to being hollow as are most Tang figures) and made from a dense grey earthenware that has been quite highly-fired, with details individually sculpted. There remain traces of red and white surface pigments.
