A Japanese Woodblock Triptych Print by Toyokuni 2nd. 1777-1835. Edo Period Ca. 1830 Assembled size 28 1/2 x 14 1/4 ins. (72.3 x 36.3 cms) This striking triptych was published by Kawaguchi-ya Chozo ca. 1830. The design shows three prominent Kabuki actors of the day standing on the foreshore with a setting sun, some boats and Mount Fuji in the background. The condition is good. Rare & Large Japanese Woodblock Advertising Print of Kabuki Actor. Meiji Period 27 1/4 x 9 7/8 ins. (69.3 x 25.2 cms) Although this print is kakemono-e (vertical diptych) size it is printed on one sheet of paper, which is unusual as the blocks would have to be correspondingly large and thus expensive.
