| A Very Large Abstract Mixed Media Print Made in Japan by the Dominican Friar, Gaston Petit. Dated 1967 27 7/8 x 19 5/8 ins. (71 x 50 cms) Gaston Petit (1930 -) is a Dominican Friar and a very versatile artist who works in a variety of mediums. His website can be found on Google. He worked for many years in Japan where this print was done. The title is "Au Coin de la Fuite" which literally translates as "the corner of the leak" but Fuite can also be translated as flight, in the sense of running away. So if any French speakers out there can suggest a better translation, please tell us. The texture and colours of the print are marvellous, the photos do not do it justice. It is no. 11 in a limited edition of 35 and is signed Fuji '67. We wrote to Fr. Petit a few years ago and he confirmed that Fuji was the art name he used in Japan early on in his career. We think the print is mainly silk screen but we suspect that other printing techniques were used also. The condition is very good with no damage and no repairs. The reverse has 4 tape marks (see photos) . There is a watermark in the paper just below the Fuji signature. Please note that this is not a facsimile or reprint. | ||||||||
