Large Chinese Han Dynasty Iridescent Glazed Jar
Large Chinese Han Dynasty Iridescent Glazed Jar

This large and impressive pottery jar was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is a sturdy jar, heavily-potted of very good form and coated in a green glaze that has, due to its long burial in damp conditions, acquired a silvery iridescence. In places the glaze has flaked from the surface.

Diameter 35 cm (13.75 inches), height 28.5 cm (11.25 inches), weight 7.15 kg (15.5 lbs). There is a small chip to the rim. No repair or restoration; very good condition.
