| A Large Chinese Naked Woman Wooden Acupucture Map Figure. 20th. Century Ht. 31 ins. (78.8 cms) Although this wonderful figure has a serious purpose in training acupuncturists it is also a fine and attractive piece of folk art. Strangely the figure is based on the Goddess of Love & Mercy, Guanyin. The attitude, with the slightly bent leg, gives it a great feeling of elegance and naturalism. The figure is carved from solid wood and has a layer of coarse cloth over which is a layer of gesso, providing a contrasting background for the ink calligraphy. It is in excellent condition with no repairs. | |||||||||
