Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Incised Celadon Bowl
This porcelain bowl was recovered from a 13th century shipwreck. It is quite "heavily-potted" with an incised decoration and has been coated in a celadon glaze except for the unglazed foot. It was most likely at the Anqi kilns in Fujian province. Sea growths still adhere to the surface; these are easily removed if desired, although we much prefer to leave them. Diameter 17.25 cm (6.75 inches). There is a fine hairline crack to the wall and, although not at all obvious, a section at the rim has been broken out and re-stuck. However it is a very clean break and repair that really has a negligible effect to the bowl, and it still has a ring when tapped. As we hope our photos show, this is a good example of its type. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
