Fine Pair of Large Chinese Warring States Burnished and Decorated Pottery Jars (475 - 221 BC)
This fine pair of large pottery jars was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). They are made from a fine-grained grey pottery and have a finely burnished surface, very smooth to the touch. Around the shoulder are bands of impressed geometric patterns. In places, especially on the inner surface of both jars, are the patterns made by ancient root/plant growths. One jar has dark patches that seem to be due to an imperfection in the clay that has come out during the firing process. The diameter of each jar is approximately 30 cm (12 inches), height 26 cm (10 inches). These jars are both in exceptional condition; there are minor chips to the rims, but no sign or restoration or repair. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
