This large pottery saddled horse dates to the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is heavily-potted and made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in a white pigment. The horse stands upright with its head turned to its left.

It is an impressive example with a height of 45.5 cm (18 inches).
