Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Double Phoenix Pattern This blue & white "Swatow" porcelain dish was made during the Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. It is decorated in underglaze blue of very good colour with the "double phoenix" pattern, two phoenixes standing facing each other, presumably male and female, surrounded by foliage and blossoms, and coated in a crackled glaze. Swatow, or Zhangzhou ceramics, were often exported to the South East Asian market. A common feature of such ware is the sand / kiln grit that adheres to the glaze on the underside. Diameter 27.25 cm (10.75 inches). This is a very good example; although there is a small chip to the rim, there is no repair or restoration. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
