This "heavily-potted" figure dates to the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Note the details of the clothing and the hairstyle. She stands hands clasped together holding a box. Much of the surface is coated in finely-crackled green and amber glazes with details, such as the hair and facial features, finished in "cold painted" black and white pigments. There is a firing crack due to the thickness of the pottery at the base. The small hole in the back is a firing hole.

Height 32.5 cm (12.75 inches). Minor surface wear and a small loss to the lower front corner of the base that has been built-up so the figure can stand securely. Overall, an attractive figure in good condition.
