Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jarlet
Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jarlet

This small porcelain jar was made during the 15th - 16th centuries. The underglaze blue decoration comprises floral patterns to the body and a band of "Rui" lappets around the shoulder. Interestingly, this jarlet was excavated from a land site in Cambodia. The crackled glaze is a little stained due to its long burial. The three small unglazed areas around the base are where the potter held the jar upside down in his fingers and dipped it into the glaze, prior to firing. Diameter 6.5 cm. Height 6 cm. No repair or restoration.
