Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Tile - Boy & Lotus
This impressive and unusual pottery tile was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It has a lot of detail and features a boy entwined within a lotus plant. It would have been one of a frieze on a wall comprising several similar tiles. It has been coated in various glazes of attractive colours. By their very nature, the majority of such tiles have been repaired: this tile has been broken and re-stuck at each end, and the head of the boy has been broken and re-stuck. In addition, the glaze to the back of the boy's head, an arm and his trousers has been re-touched in places. Length 56 cm (22 inches), maximum height 32 cm (12.5 inches). *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
