Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Jar

This attractive covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is coated inside and out in a pale greenish Qingbai-type glaze. The cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary. It is quite "heavily-potted" for its type with a sturdy cover and foot; in fact there is a hairline that penetrates the body at the foot, most likely caused during manufacture due to the thickness of the clay, the same occurring at a glaze crackle to the rim.

Height 8.5 cm. There are two small chips to the edges of the cover (inner and outer). No repair or restoration. A nice and unusual example of its type.
