Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse & Rider

This fine and attractive pottery horse and rider was made some 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). The horse stands alert, head facing forward with its mouth slightly open. The rider sits in the act of holding the reins to the horse. It is made from a grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. Note especially the detail of the rider's clothing.

Height 29 cm (11.25 inches).

For information: this is one of a group of similar items we bought a few years ago. We had another horse/rider from that group TL tested by Oxford Authentication and a scan of the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report confirming the date of manufacture as "between 1500 and 2400 years ago" is shown for information.
Note: this particular example being offered for sale here has NOT been TL tested; it is simply not economic for us to have every individual item tested.
