Vietnamese 14th Century Underglazed Dish
This heavily-potted dish was made during the 14th century. It has a shallow fluted inner wall and has been simply decorated in underglaze blue with a loosely-drawn floral pattern within two circular bands. It is coated in a glaze that has run in places on the underside and stops short of the base that remains unglazed, revealing the pale body. Within the glaze on the upper surface are five spur marks.
Height 14 cm (5.5 inches). Some wear and loss of glaze where it is thin, particularly at the rim edge. No repair or restoration.
