Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Lion Dog
This porcelain dish was made during the mid to late 16th century (c. 1560 - 1590). The unusual underglaze blue decoration features a Buddhistic lion-dog. The underside is more simply decorated with just two thin blue bands circling the base and rim edge.
Diameter 13.5 cm (5.25 inches). There is some staining to the glaze resulting from long burial and some "fritting" and "nibbles" to the rim edge, but no repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
