Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Ladies in a Garden
This very attractive porcelain dish was made during the 16th century. The underglaze blue design features two ladies standing in a garden surrounded by different types of foliage. Around the rim is a trellis border. The outer wall is decorated with a peony scroll. The peony is an emblem of spring and also represents honour, love, affection and feminine beauty.
This is quite a large dish with a diameter of 20 cm (8 inches). There is a chip to the underside rim edge, but there is no repair or restoration and this dish has a good ring when tapped.
