Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - Sanskrit

This unusual blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is "heavily-potted" and thickly glazed. To the inner surface are two scrolling bands surrounding the rim and base, in the centre of which are two Chinese characters. The whole of the outer wall is decorated with repeated Sanskrit characters.

Diameter 15 cm (6 inches). There is some minor "fritting" to the glaze at the rim. This bowl is free from restoration or repair and has a good ring when tapped.
