Three Chinese Western Han Dynasty Gilded Bronze Fittings / Tubes
These three gilded bronze tubes were made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8) or possibly a little earlier. Each is possibly the handle of something, indeed one still has the remains of wood inside it, presumably once part of its original wooden implement. Much more of the gilding could be revealed with careful removal of some of the malachite and cuprite surface deposits, but we leave the decision of whether or not to do this to the eventual purchaser. The length of each tube is 10.75 cm (4.25 inches).
