Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Figure
This pottery figure was made during the latter part of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). The figure would have been one of a group of four carrying a palanquin. The body is coated in a thick green glaze, the unglazed surface "cold painted" in black and white pigments.
Height 20.5 cm (8 inches). Poor condition (part of base edges missing, broken and re-stuck at the legs, repairs that could certainly be improved upon).
Recently acquired from a private Scottish collection.
