Fine Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Bowl with Carved Floral & Lotus Blossom Decoration
This fine quality porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It is thinly-potted, the porcelain body being particularly translucent, especially where the carved decoration is. The decoration features scrolling floral patterns and a lotus blossom. It is coated in a pale blue Qingbai glaze of very good colour.
Diameter 18.5 cm (7.25 inches). Although this bowl is free from restoration or repair, there is some surface wear and two old hairlines to the rim. There is also some glaze crackling to the rim, but this should not be confused with actual cracks.
Recently acquired from a private west country collection.
