Japanese Woodblock Print Shunga Album Attrib. Tomioka Eisen
Size of prints opened 12 x 8 3/4 ins. (35 x 22.3 cms) This folding album (gajo) of 12 designs has brocade silk covers. The designs are attributed to Tomioka Eisen (1864-1905) but printed later, probably Taisho Period 1912-1926 or early Showa. The printing is very fine with very fine control of the bokashi (shading). The album is in almost mint condition. Some of the prints have some faint off-setting from certain pigments when the two halves of the prints are in contact with each other when the album is closed (see photos.
