A Japanese Osaka Woodblock Diptych Print by Hirosada 1850s. Edo Period
14 1/2 x 10 ins. (37.2 x 25.4 cms) This rather amusing design by the late Osaka master, Hirosada, shows a heavily clad man riding an oxen while reading a book. In the background is a sea or lake shore featuring the pyramid shaped drying nets.
As is usually the case with Osaka productions the printing is of superlative quality with the use of embossing and metallic pigments. The condition is very good with no damage and no repairs. As with most Osaka chuban size prints this diptych was originally part of a collector's album and has the usual album backing.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PRINTING NOT A FACSIMILE OR REPRINT
