Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Shou
This porcelain dish was made during the mid to late 16th century (c. 1560 - 1590). The underglaze blue decoration features a particularly boldly-drawn "shou" character (good luck) and a trellis border. The underside is more simply decorated with just two thin blue bands and a seal mark in its centre.
Diameter 13.5 cm (5.25 inches). There is some minor "fritting" and a couple of insignificant "nibbles" to the rim edge, as well as an ancient hairline, but no repair or restoration.
